ARTIST BRIEF | HISTORY | CONTACT | PRESS | UPDATE | PHOTOS | ARCHIVE CONTRA GOLPE - REENACTING A FAILED OPERATION

Queridos amigos, Dear friends, Liebe freunde:

It’s hot and time is running faster towards the opening of this show!
We are OPENING Saturday September 30th, from 8pm until 1am (extensible),
everybody is invited - spread the word!

we will have a rare musical performance by on the inaugural night.

If anybody has any ideas for performances or special appeareances throughout the opening times of the show (October 1st to 4th) you should
let us know, since we wrote on the press release
“additional performances & schedules will be announced at: contra-golpe.org”.

The show will remain open from Sun Oct 1st to Wed Oct 4th, 12pm until 9 pm.

We have designed a simple postcard to promote the show. The design shows the state of one of the cars in the Pinochet convoy after the attack. The postcard will be printed in Berlin this week, so for now it’ll only be available to those who are already in Berlin. We will make sure all of you receive a few so you can put them on your scrapbooks and your fridge’s door, but for now all promotion outside Berlin should happen through the website.

We have found a place to set the exhibition, a space that satisfies most of
our needs and expectations: street level, big windows, with a wide sidewalk
where to park the video/sound Mercedes, accessible, near historical sites of
Berlin…). Here are three views of the building (Stalin Bauten), and a plan of the space –not for you to decide where your piece has to be, but to get an idea of how the show might look like.

Karl Marx Allee is a wide avenue that runs from Mitte towards Fiedrichshain.
Many of the public buildings of former DDR are placed along this avenue,
where the communist troops used to march down on their annual parade.

The space is available for us from September 17th until October 5th, so consider ID will be on site on these dates, and we need you to be around
in order to understand what is going to be shown, and how. We’ll also need
full cooperation towards the physical implementation of the show (meaning
whatever is needed, chairs, tables, plinths, monitors, dvd players, cd
players, tools… makes sense that we don’t want to BUY all these things).

Ivan has already received the first pieces from the artists living in Chile
(gracias!).
For those of you in New York time is coming up, you should start getting
ready to give us your pieces. Diego is in the process (somehow slow and
painful) of getting a phone, so as soon as this happens you will receive
notice and the retrieval will begin. Please keep in mind the fact that the
artwork will travel to Europe as regular luggage, so if your piece needs
special packaging, please provide it. Also include and explain any special
installation requirements (both technical and conceptual).

Well, that’s it for now, best wishes and BEST ART
